This is a totally rare Russian 45mm anti-tank gun and it held 10 rounds of high explosive fragmentation shells which was captured and re used by the Wehrmacht. The box has paper label on the inside with all readable markings the box was last packed on 27th February 1942 which has fantastic markings. The box still retains most of its original colour and original green paintwork and both hinges are in nice condition also has its lock that still works perfectly the lid still opens and closes perfectly it has its all its original black stamped markings on the top also side and front which are the original Russian ones which has date of 1941.The box also on the outside is the German paper label this is mostly readable.The crate is perfect with no real damage and has been well used it is still very clean and its lovely green colour it has no woodworm and is a very rare one for the collection and one of the best captured German used boxes i have seen. The box comes from a private collection in the town of Kalach in the area they captured in the battle of July-August 1942 on the Stalingrad front in Russia.The box comes with a trio of A5 laminated information cards with many pictures.
The Battle of Kalach took place between the German Sixth Army and elements of the Soviet Stalingrad Front between July 25 and August 11, 1942. The Soviets deployed the 62nd and 64th Armies in a Don River bridgehead west of Kalach with the intent of impeding the German advance on Stalingrad which they managed to do for a few weeks before they were destroyed or captured by the German 6th Army then they advanced to Stalingrad.
