Very rare German Wehrmacht 5th grade shooter Lanyard for Army Marksman’s nice clean relic recovered in the area of the village of Marinovka which was defended by the 297th Infantry Division during the battle of 1942-1943 at Stalingrad in Russia.

This is a very rare near complete German Wehrmacht 5th grade shooter Lanyard for Army Marksman’s that was owned by a German solider or sniper fighting with the 6th Army in Stalingrad. The silver cord of the lanyard is near complete it still retains its original colour and is very solid no braking up or falling apart the badge is in very nice relic but solid condition the eagle and swastika marking is clear to see the badge is nearly complete but missing a couple of bits of its side sections and its pins on the back it has been very well cleaned and this lanyard is a very rare find from the battlefield especially for a cloth item. The lanyard was recovered from a pit of German equipment along with RAD items in the area of the village of Marinovka which was defended by the 297th Infantry Division during the battle of 1942-1943 at Stalingrad in Russia and comes with A5 laminated information card. 

On June 10, 1942, the 297th division began crossing the Seversky Donets river by assault boat, constructing a bridge for other units, including the 14th Panzer Division. The division continued to make inroads around the black sea to take down the industrial city of Stalingrad. During the battle some units within the division were seen to construct caves which would later be transformed into a field hospital and an equipment storage room. The division fought in the ruined city until Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus surrender of the 6th Army in January 1943.
