    This is a very nice very rare lovely near complete engine valve from Daimler Benz engine it is not damaged by the impact of the crash. The valve is totally complete with its spring in its place but this moves as it is not held in place anymore also has the retaining ring in place it has been very well cleaned and has most of its original colours still very clear to see and not pitted it also has its original number 20 meaning the 20th valve in the 48 the engine had the spring is a bit rusty it is in nice solid condition it is perfect for display or any collection it is 5 inches long and from the hart of the Daimler Benz engine on the aircraft.The part comes from German Messerschmitt bf109 fighter number 4842 which was engaged on a free-lance sortie over Canterbury in Kent and were intercepted by RAF spitfires on the 18th September 1940 during the Battle of Britain.The engine part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.

    The Messerschmitt caught fire whilst under attack by flying officer R.W.Oxspring of No66 squadron who shot the aircraft down. The abandoned aircraft crashed in flames and burned out at Guilton, Ash, near Sandwich at 5.05pm on the 18th September 1940.The pilot Leutnant.E.Bodendiek who had baled out safely but was captured seriously wounded.
