    This is a nice example and rare to find a complete British 18 pounder high explosive shell dated 1916 the proper heavy thick sided case the shell in lovely condition and dated 1916 the primer is dated August 1915.The projectile is painted green and the steel case which still has its brass driving band attached this retains its original colour .The brass shell case is in nice condition it still it's nice shiny brass colour with no damage and very little discolour and has all its original markings on the bottom of the case all clear to see. The fuse which has a original blue painted tip is still its lovely shiny brass colour and has all of its original markings and dated September 1916 and it does screw in and out of the case perfectly the shell is completely empty and inert and overall perfect condition for display and rare for any collection these high explosive shells are so much rare to find then the shrapnel ones. The shell was found on the on the Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and comes with a A5 laminated information card.
