This is a larger size glass framed nice group of parts which are 2 of engine case also 4 sections of airframe parts and a section of cockpit perspex. The parts have been nicely cleaned and retain some of there original colour they all have been mounted in to a glass fronted box frame with plane and crash information and pictures with photograph of the pilot the frame is 12 inches by 9 inches in size. The parts come from Spitfire R6753 shot down by Messerschmitt 109 on the 28th August 1940 the plane crashed at St Mary's Road, Dymchurch during the battle of Britain.

Flight Officer Pinckney claimed a Messerschmitt 109 shot down on 29th August but he was himself shot down and bailed out slightly burned, being admitted to hospital. Pinckney probably destroyed a Messerschmitt109, on 17th and 19th October 1940 he claimed two more destroyed, on 11th and 17th November probably two more and on the 23rd a CR42 destroyed. In December 1940 Pinckney was posted to the Far East, arriving in Singapore on 16th January 1941 and in March 1941 he was in charge of the initial formation of 67 Squadron at Kallang. He was killed on 23rd January 1942 as a Flight Lieutenant with 67 Squadron aged 24. With just one other Buffalo (flown by Sgt. Christiansen) he had engaged a large formation of 24 Ki-27 ‘Nate’s of the 50th Sentai. The two RAF planes withdrew through cloud and on emerging Pinckney’s aircraft (W8239) was seen burning on the ground near Pegu.
