This is a rare 1st pattern American 50 cal ammunition tin which is not relic at all but nice condition. The box has dark green paintwork on it not sure if its original or not most likely a post war over paint but done many years ago. The box which has a few small dents and knocks from use it has some very light surface rust in a few places but nothing much the box still opens and closes and locks perfectly on the inside is no damage and all paintwork the box is overall very good condition and a nice example of this hard to find box which has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection .The ammunition tin would have been used in the fighting that took place in the Ardennes Forest during the battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.A very nice unusual relic found on a local brocante in September 2020 in the village of Bras near Bastogne in Belgium ware it has been since the battle in 1945.
