    This is a nice condition German 5cm Pak38 anti-tank gun steel shell case .The case is steel made with lots of its original brass wash clear to see it is still very solid it does not have a few holes and is damaged around the neck with part of it missing. On the base of the case which has cleaned up well but non of its maker markings can be seen and on the inside perfect condition with its brass colour the rare bit it still has lots of its original brass colour it has discolored partly from being buried but nothing to bad but is a bit pitted as well the case has been very well cleaned it is perfect to display or and a rare one for any collection. The shell case is empty and inert and would have been used by the panzer Lehr division it was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45.The shell case comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures and a marked map showing the area where the case was found. 

    The shell case was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance the area where the lake is, was attacked by the German 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division
