    This is a large heavy tank heavy part which is a Underbelly chassis connector from underneath sherman tank.The part has some green paintwork remains it does not have to much damage from when the tank was hit it looks like it blew clean off. The part has no rubber seals anything like that it is rusty but solid and has been very well cleaned perfect for display or any collection this very heavy lump is 5 long by 7 inches wide. The part was recovered from the site of a destroyed British Sherman Tank in the 11th Armoured Division destroyed in fighting and recovered from near the village of Habloville the battle of the 16-20 August 1944 closing the gap in the Falaise Pocket in Normandy. The relic comes with A5 laminated information card with the details of the battle.

    The British 11th Armoured division was attached to XXX corps. It progressed eastward hard on the heels of the Germans, who were retreating after the failure of the Mortain counteroffensive. On the 16th August they were engaged in heavy fighting against a German rear-guard then the 11th Armoured division seized Flers on 17 August. Then they were involved in closing the Falaise pocket gap advancing steadily towards Trun after its capture and once the battle for the Falaise gap was over, the 11th Armoured liberated more towns and villages as it moved across France into Germany.
