This is a very rare find a French captured then re used by the German Luftwaffe airdropped fuel barrel which is in semi-relic condition. The barrel is dated 1939 and is maker marked with pretty much all of its original red paintwork there are no holes that can be seen and it has very little rust but does have a large dent on one side from use it has its carry handle but is missing one of its caps the barrel has cleaned up very well with a lot of original colour .The can has no real damage other then the dent it has some knocks and scratches from use but is in overall a very nice condition and a nice example of this famous captured fuel can found from the battlefield. This can was properly used first in North Africa by the Afrikakorps then by the paratroopers in Italy as it was recovered years ago from the battlefield around Monte Cassino in Italy and has been in a local Museum for many years until the Museum closed down in 2015 and all the items were sold off.
