    This is a rare find from the battlefield which is a German MG34/42 machine gun double spare barrel holder which is a nice condition relic pretty much complete but is rusty and in relic but solid condition.The carrier still has its top this has rusted solid as is the lock it does have some rust damage and holes but nothing to bad inside is complete with both its carry tubes.The holder still has clear to see sand camouflage paintwork remains clear to see it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and a cracking rare find from the battlefield especially in this good a condition. The barrel holder was recovered in the area of the village of Marinovka which was defended by the 297th Infantry Division also in the pit was RAD [Reich Labour Service] items as well all used during the battle of 1942-1943 at Stalingrad in Russia. The MG42 barrel comes with A5 laminated information card.

    On June 10, 1942, the 297th division began crossing the Seversky Donets river by assault boat, constructing a bridge for other units, including the 14th Panzer Division. The division continued to make inroads around the black sea to take down the industrial city of Stalingrad. During the battle some units within the division were seen to construct caves which would later be transformed into a field hospital and an equipment storage room. The division fought in the ruined city until Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus surrender of the 6th Army in January 1943.
