This is a German large heavy duty armored vehicle shovel head these were used for digging out sunk vehicles in mud and trench digging a unusual type of shovel to find not made in such large numbers as standard ones. The head which is missing its wooden handle is in very nice solid condition it has cleaned up well it is a bit pitted and rusty from being buried but is a nice example and is perfect for display or any collection. The shovel head was recovered from a field near Trun, which we think was a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy in France 1944. A nice rare relic from the famous Normandy battlefield.
