This is a Rare German steel made shell case for the pak 184/1[r] which was the Russian M1937 45mm anti-tank gun captured and re used by the Wehrmacht. On the bottom of the case non of its original markings can be seen it does have some small brass wash remains it is rusty with some rust damage but is in very solid condition not braking up or falling apart it has been very well cleaned and overall nice condition for this rare steel case. The case is a cracking example of this hard to find steel case perfect for display or any collection. The case was recovered in the Orel Salient which was heavily fought over during the opening battles in Operation Citadel during the German Kursk offensive and Russian counterattack in July-August 1943 in Russia.
On 12 July the Soviets launched operation Kutuzov, their counter-offensive upon the Orel salient, which threatened the flank and rear of Model's 9th Army. The 12th Panzer Division, thus far held in reserve and slated to be committed to the northern side of the Kursk salient, along with the 36th Motorized Infantry, 18th Panzer and 20th Panzer Divisions were redeployed to face the Soviet spearheads.
