This is a very rare parts from the magnetic compass on the nose of the rocket which is part of inner ring retaining bracket and a large section of the aluminum outer case remains which has been squashed by the impact of the crash. The pair of parts which still retain some of there original aluminium colours overall nice condition they have ripped off by the impact of the crash they are in relic but solid condition and have been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and are 8-6 inches long in size.This is a rare one for any collection the parts were recovered from the crash site of German V1 rocket which crashed north of village Billum on 27th March 1945 in Denmark.The part comes with 2 X A5 laminated information cards with diagram information card and pictures of the compass being fitted on to the front of the rocket and shows how it exactly went on the rocket.
The flying bomb is reported to have come from a south easterly direction at approx. 19:00 hrs and fell 15 meters west of Tørvevejen road about 3 kilometres north of the village of Billum. It exploded on impact and debris was spread over a large area. Some parts from the rocket were recovered at the time and some many years after war in the late 1960’s and the early 1970’s.
