    This is a German Naval 88mm flak gun shell container top section which has ripped and blow apart but still has some clear to see sand camouflage paintwork remains and there is a top as well which is still attached to the top of the tube which has ripped off in an explosion like the other part.The lid which is maker marked on one catch fairly clear to see and the case section is 23 inches long and is rare to find from the battlefield with this unusual paintwork as well . The tube parts which are different tubes are rusty but solid and have been very well cleaned and are perfect condition for display or any collection and a rare bit of Kriegsmarine to get battlefield recovered.The tube parts were recovered from Kriegsmarine costal artillery position on the Atlantic wall defense system near the port of Saint Malo in France. The part comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards.

    The battle for the walled city Saint Malo and the fortress positions began on August 4 1944 Allied intelligence had believed that there were 1000 German soldiers holed up in the area enclosed by the old walls and had bombed it heavily, however, when the city surrendered on August 14 only 83 German soldiers were taken prisoner. The commander of Fortress Saint-Malo, Colonel Von Aulock, surrendered all German forces in the area on August 17th 1944.
