This is a British fired and exploded 2-inch mortar bomb fin which is nice condition relic with maker markings on the bottom of it including dated 1942 .The fin is near complete partley broken apart when fired it is empty and inert which is de activated by condition it is in lovely solid condition it still retains some of its original colour it has been very well cleaned overall nice condition it is perfect for display or any collection .The mortar bomb fin was recovered from the El Alamein battlefield of late 1942 during the North African desert campaign of 1940-1943.The relic was found and recovered in around 2007-2012 by the Egyptian-Sahara.com expeditions and tours company who specialized in the El Alamein battlefield.The relic comes with A5 laminated information card with pictures the fin was recovered in the early 2000's this relic was purchased directly from them when they were operating in around 2007-2012.
Battle was fought near the western frontier of Egypt between 23 October and 4 November 1942, El Alamein was the climax and turning point of the North African campaign in the Second World War. The Axis army of Italy and Germany suffered a decisive defeat by the British Eighth Army.
