This is a German 8cm Mortar 3 shell carry case which is in relic condition but with paintwork remains. The box is near complete but it does have lots of rust holes and damage  but it is in nice condition for a relic still solid it has some original paintwork mostly  inside red undercoat and bit of green as well fairly clear to see, the hinge is working fine the box open and closes and its carry handle is there but bent also on the inside it still has the shell holder racking in place pretty much totally complete the case has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect to display. The box was recovered from a field near Trun, which we think was a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy in France 1944. A nice rare relic from the famous Normandy battlefield and comes with A5 laminated information card.
