A rare German ammunition box with label for the Russian 122mm field gun captured during the advance in the east, reused in some number on the Atlantic wall defences in Normandy as the 12.2cm K 390/1 (r). It would have originally held two cartridge cases. The box is in good condition with super original paint remaining. The locking catch and hinges in good working order and original rope handle. The internal racking for the cases has been removed at some point in time as the box was reused post war.
Acquired from a local dealer at the Lisieux Normandy militaria fair
