This is a very rare near complete lovely condition Bakelite made veeder counter holder which held the mechanical distance counter which calculated the range for the rocket. The part which still has all of its original dark brown colour it is in very nice condition amazing enough not damaged by the impact of the explosion and crash it is missing its top it has been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and is 5 inches long and 3 inches wide in size.This is a very rare one for any collection the parts were recovered from the crash site of German V1 rocket which crashed north of village Billum on 27th March 1945 in Denmark.The parts come with 2 X A5 laminated information cards with diagram information card to show where parts are exactly from on the rocket marked off with coloured box.
The flying bomb is reported to have come from a south easterly direction at approx. 19:00 hrs and fell 15 meters west of Tørvevejen road about 3 kilometres north of the village of Billum. It exploded on impact and debris was spread over a large area. Some parts from the rocket were recovered at the time and some many years after war in the late 1960’s and the early 1970’s.
