This is part of group of items that have been recovered that have either been on a German uboat and removed for what ever reason during the war or were there to be fitted on a boat but never were as it was originally a war time dump that was then used as a post war dump site for used and broken parts and new parts never used. This is a interior double electrical panel of some sort with a small label attached on it clear to see it still retains some of its original colours and gray and black paintwork remains. The part has been nicely cleaned and it is in nice solid condition perfect for display or any collection. The internal part of uboat is 5 half inches by 3 inches wide. The part was recovered from an Allied post war dump site from 1945, near the Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft uboat construction shipyard in Kiel. The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.
The Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft in Kiel was the first German shipyard to produce submarines on a large scale. The shipbuilding company, located on the eastern bank of the Hörn River in the Kiel district of Gaarden-Ost, was one of the most important contractors for the Imperial German Navy from the end of the 19th century and, from 1935, for the Kriegsmarine.
After the end of World War II, the shipyard facilities were dismantled by order of the British occupying forces, and the company was dissolved. A small portion of the former shipyard site is occupied by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.
