    This is a totally rare item a Crewman's cigarette case,lovely condition relic owned by a airman on this night fighter. This lovely relic obviously it does have some damage from the crash the aluminium made case has ripped and bent but is still complete and does open and close it still has its original design pattern that can be seen on the front and the back and retains its lovely original silver colour it is still solid and not braking up or falling aprt it is 4 inches long and has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or in a collection. The tin was recovered from the cockpit area inside German Junkers Ju88 night fighter of 4/NJG2 shot down on night intruder raid over England on 17th April 1941 and crashed near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. The item comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.

    The crash remains a mystery as there are British fighter claims of a ju88 for that night and its was not shot down by Anti-aircraft fire. The plane crashed late in the night of the 17th April at Hurns Farm, Gedney Hill near Peterborough. The crew of the plane were Pilot Obergefreiter Wilhelm Beetz,  Wireless Operator  Gefreiter Rudolf Kronika, Gunner Gefreiter Johann Mittag. All were killed in the crash and were listed as missing in action since 1941 until the plane was recovered in 1978 and the crew were all buried at Cannock Chase.
