This is a very nice condition and VERY RARE relic from messerschmitt bf109 serial number 13605 which was flown by luftwaffe ace Heinrich Ehrler when he got his 200th kill over the Eastern Front. This is a section of aluminium air frame it is nice and clean with lots of original gray/green paintwork and lots of original colours it has ripped and bent by the impact of the crash the solid part is perfect for display or any collection and has been mounted in to a glass fronted box frame with information and pictures the frame is 12 inches by 12 inches in size. This peace is a nice part that was not put back on the plane when it was restored to fly.A very nice relic from a very famous plane with its ace pilot a must for any collection.
Heinrich Ehrler (14 September 1917 – 4 April 1945) was a German World war 2 fighter ace whose distinguished Luftwaffe combat career ended in tragic controversy. Along with Theodor Weissenberger, Ehrler shared the honors of "top-ace" in Jagdgeschwader 5 amassing 208 kills - including eight in the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter (while flying with Jagdgeschwader 7 Scapegoated for the loss of the German battleship Tirpitz Ehrler - who had been nominated for the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords prior to the disaster - was court-martialled, stripped of his command and sentenced to three years and two months Festungshaft . Ehrler's sentence was later commuted and his loss of rank rescinded, and in February 1945 he was transferred to JG 7. According to comrades, Ehrler flew thereafter without the purposeand dedication that had previously elevated him to the ranks of the Luftwaffe's most successful aces.On 4 April 1945, he shot down two Allied bombers for his final two victories, before allegedly ramming a third after having run out of ammunition. Last Mission: Shot down over northwestern Russia during late 1944 / early 1945 by Russian Flak. Purchased and recovered by Jim Pearce, November 2003.This aircraft remained unmodified through its life being built as a G2. The aircraft is believed to have been shot down during late 1944 / early 1945 by Russian Flak over a lake near the Russian / Finish border. The aircraft made a crashed landing onto the tundra and remained there until its recovery in 2003.This aircraft was flown by Luftwaffe Ace Heinrich Ehrler. Ehrler had 208 victories when he died later in the war. This aircraft (13605) is Yellow 12 in which Ehrler scored his 200th victory.
