    This is a glass framed fantastic rare glass framed German Wehrmacht shoulder board for a Oberlieutenant [First Lieutenant] in the 6th Panzer Regiment part of the Panzer Lehr Division. The board is in total relic condition but is solid not braking up of falling apart with some damage it does not have much of its original colours it is dirty but has been lightly cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection.The board has been mounted in to a glass fronted frame with pictures the frame is 12 inches by 12 inches in size.The shoulder board was recovered from a rubbish pit dug on Hill 192 near Saint Lo in Normandy the battle of early July 1944.

    Hill 192 with its overwhelming views on Saint-Lô and the surrounding area, by the 10th July 1944 the Americans reached the bottom of the hill and the roads it overlooked. The hill is defended by the paratroopers of the German Fallschirmjäger Regiment 5 and the Fallschirmjäger Regiment 9 part of the 3rd Fallschirmjäger-Division also Self-propelled guns and German tanks of the Panzer Lehr Division to which the 6th Panzer Regiment was assigned to.

    The 6th Panzer regiment's 1st Abteilung was sent west into France and was converted there on the 6th August 1943 from its Panzer 4 tanks into a Panther tank Abteilung with four companies. The 1st Abeilung in France was placed under the Panzer Lehr Division in January 1944.
