Fuel tank fuel pump agitator from Messerschmitt Bf109 work number 2762 that was on bomber escort sortie over London when it was shot down on 6th September 1940 at 9.20am & crashed near Tonbridge in Kent during the battle of Britain. The item is in solid condition and has been cleaned ready for display.
The aircraft was in combat with RAF fighters over Kent and had its engine damaged by Flight Lieutenant P.B. Robinson of number 61 squadron. The plane turned for home but with all the coolant lost and still pursued by RAF fighters the pilot abandoned it. The plane crashed and burned out on Brook farm in Tudeley near Tonbridge in Kent. The pilot Feldwebel E.Braun baled out and was captured.
