    German Kriegsmarine U-boat 8.8cm SK C/30 U steel ammunition cylinder for one complete round. Found at a flea market in Lorient, Brittany France. 

    The container has been well cleaned and is in good solid condition but with some holes due to rust. The lid locking mechanism is rusted solid but could be freed up with work. Approximate length 1 meter.

    The 8.8cm SK C/30 U was used as deck gun on some early war U-boats, mounted forward of the conning tower. During the early war years these guns were used to encourage the surrender of independently routed merchant ships or to sink ships damaged by torpedoes.
