This is a very rare find from the battlefield a British fired Livens mortar projectile which is complete but blown apart it is in relic but very solid condition. The case is blown apart when it was fired it has been properly cleaned out and is empty and inert it is rusty but still has some of its original black paintwork remains the projectile is not braking up at all overall it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and a very rare to get from the battlefield especially in such good condition. The Livens was recovered from in front of the old German trench line in the village of Flers on the Somme battlefield 1916-1918. Flers was the first village captured using tanks in September 1916. The projectile comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.

The Livens Projector was a simple mortar-like weapon that could throw large drums filled with flammable or toxic chemicals.
