    This is a German Shell Case wooden crate for 10cm K14 artillery case which has been used post war as tool box with the name of the french civilian.The box has most of its original colour but has discolored from use it is nicely marked on the exterior lid with white stamped markings partly clear to read the box has both its hinges working fine the lid opens closes but the lock has broken and it still has both its carry handles.The wood is still solid for over 100 years old the box has has woodworm at some point but has been treated the crate is perfect for display or any collection.This crate came from a collection on the Somme so a very nice relic from the famous Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and comes with A5 laminated information card.

    This 10cm K 14 proved to be an excellent weapon on the battlefields, polyvalent but more and more specialised in the counter-battery fire. On the other hand, the expectations of getting this weapon abilities in anti-aircraft fire were never met.724 such guns '10 cm K 14' ('K' = Kanone = Gun) were manufactured by Krupp during the war. 368 were still in service in November 1918. This gun was still in use in the 3rd Reich armies during WW2.
