Greek army helmet - battle of Crete relic.
The helmet was found on a farm in the area surrounding Galatas which had been in the landing zone for the Mars assault group of Fallschirmjager. The high ground to the south of Galatas had been occupied by the 6th Greek Regiment.
The helmet had been used post war by a farmer, modified with a handle attached to the front to be used as a scoop. Also to be seen are two repairs with metal strips and rivets to stop splits from spreading in the shell.
The helmet has been well cleaned and would be a great addition to a collection.
