Group of propeller bearing parts from the base of a blade from American B17 flying fortress 42-97942 named Heavenly Body 2 collided with another bomber on mission to bomb V weapons site in France, 19th June 1944 it crashed near Canvey Island,Essex

This is a group of 7 smaller size propeller bearing parts from the base of a blade 2 are Bakelite made also 1 section of cogg the other 4 are steel made parts 1 is a bolt.The parts still retain some original colours they have ripped,bent and damaged by the impact of the crash they are very solid not braking up or falling apart and have been nicely cleaned and are perfect for display or any collection they are nice size at 2-6 inches long. The parts are from American B17 flying fortress 42-97942 named Heavenly Body 2 collided with another B17 bomber on return from mission to bomb V weapons site in Northern France on the 19th June 1944 it crashed in the Thames near Canvey Island in Essex.The parts come with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.

On 19 June 1944, a formation of B-17 Flying Fortresses of the 379th Bomb Group were returning from a mission to bomb V weapons sites in northwest France on the return from the mission to England from France with Lloyd Burns, Bombardier: Jack Gray, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Leon Gibbs, Radio Operator: Leroy Monk, Ball turret gunner: Bill Farmer, Waist gunner: Dick Andrews (6 Returned to Duty); Co-pilot: Fred Kauffman, Navigator: Ed Sadler,Tail gunner: Lou Schulte (3 Killed in Action); The b17 bomber number 44-6133 experienced engine trouble and collided with B-17 42-97942 nicknamed "Heavenly Body II", the two aircraft became temporarily entangled. The wreckage of Heavenley Body crashed into Canvey point mud bank in the River Thames estuary in Essex.
