This is a German 20mm Flak 30/38 Anti-aircraft gun magazine box which is nice condition slightly better then relic but has a large impact hit and has bent out of shape from an explosion. The box does have lots of its original sand colour paintwork and some small amount of blue paintwork as well there is a lot of paintwork outside but on the inside of the box cant be seen as the box has bent up.The lid can be opened on the inside there is some dirt and muck from the lake bed still in there. The box is complete with both carry handles which move but its lock is broken the lid has bent and miss shaped the box only has a very few small rust holes only it is in overall very nice condition but still very rare to find from the battlefield in such good condition with so much paintwork basically this one is semi relic box it has survived so well as it has been in a Lake bed in the silt which has help protect it is a very solid and a cracking condition relic. This magazine box belonged to Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion it was recovered with tiger 1 tank parts from a Lake East of Bastogne from battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.Due to the very low number of Tiger 1 tanks in the battle it is very easy to work out what units all the equipment came from recovered in this area. The magazine box comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.
German Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion relics all found with Tiger 1 tank parts from a tank in the only Wehrmacht unit with Tiger 1 tanks in the whole battle and offensive 14 of them most were destroyed. They were in the 4th Company of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 also the 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division were there and of course the 311th Flak battalion were with them in this area during the battle and the encirclement of Bastogne over Christmas 1944.
