This is a Very rare German ammunition wooden crate which held standard charges for the 10cm LFH18 light field howitzer but it originally held long rang powder charges for 15cm SFH18 heavy field howitzer.The crate is complete the wood is still solid and its nice green painted colour a well used crate it still retains its original white stamped markings on the lid not all readable it is maker stamped and dated 1939 with waffen stamp on one side.On the inside there is the remains of a paper label with some readable markings this is dated 1944.The box has both hinges are in nice condition also has its metal carry handles, the lid still opens and closes and the catches still work the box it does not have any wood worm it is in overall very nice condition with no major damage and hard to find in this good a condition for such a well used box that has seen a lot of action which is a nice unusual one for any collection.The crate came from a private collection in Dieppe originally used by the German Army in the Normandy campaign in the summer of 1944 and comes with A5 laminated information card.
