This is a nice find from the battlefield a German Drivers Proficiency Badge which is in relic condition but very solid and has been well cleaned the markings on this badge are visible pretty clear and clean the badge is pretty much complete does have damage from being buried but not much the badge is missing its pins on the back a fantastic battlefield find perfect for display or any collection .The badge was recovered from a field near Trun, which we think was a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy in France 1944. A nice rare relic from the famous Normandy battlefield.

The Driver Proficiency Badge was established on 23 October 1942 to reward drivers of military transport vehicles, including trucks, cars and motorcycles, who served for specified periods in a war zone after 1 December 1940.The requirement for the award was to have served since 1 December 1940 on the front line or in rear areas on the Balkan, North African and Eastern Fronts, with other areas added as the war progressed. The qualifying period depended on the type of vehicle driven. For the bronze badge this was.

    • other forms of military transport: 135 days
