    This is a British 18 pounder shell base transit clip and brass fuse cover which were fitted to shells as they were shipped from the factory's to the front. The shell transit clip and cover which are both complete and in very nice condition still with some of its original maker markings on the clip both retain there original colour the brass is its dirty brass colour which have been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and rare to find in this good a condition from the battlefield. This clip-cover were recovered many years ago on the Somme battlefield 1916-1918
