This is a oxygen bottle is complete and has its screw in fitting at either end these have rusted solid in to the bottle but both are steel made with no maker markings, this is a internal cockpit or fuselage stored bottle. The bottle its self has no rust holes that can be seen it has some rust damage but nothing bad it does have some small amount original blue paintwork and 2 white painted stripes that can be seen it is rusty but solid and it has been very nicely cleaned it is perfect for display or any collection it is a lovely bit of aircraft the bottle is 16 inches long. This is very rare to get such an item from a battle of Britain German bomber. This bottle comes from inside German Dornier Do17 bomber of KG76 work number 2596 that was shot down by RAF spitfires of 602 squadron on the 7th September 1940 during the Battle of Britain.The bottle comes with 2X A5 laminated information sheets with pictures. This is a rare to get a part from this German Dornier Bomber shot down during the Battle of Britain.
This bomber was on a photo-reconnaissance mission over the London Docks. It was attacked by pilot officer E.W Aries of 602 squadron also by Flying Officer G.C Peters of 79 squadron. The bomber spiralled out of control and collided with Hurricane of 234 squadron.
The bomber crashed on fire into the stream at Sundridge near Sevenoaks in Kent at 6.00pm on the 7th September 1940.
