    This is a glass framed display of a group of 303 bullet heads there nice brass colour still they are in lovely clean condition they have been nicely cleaned and are perfect for display or for any collection. These bullet heads are from RAF Spitfire number P9554 shot down on 16th August 1940 the pilot Squadron Leader A.R.D MacDonnell baled out and the plane crashed at Blackboys near Uckfield in Sussex. A lovely group of rare relics from a battle of Britain Spitfire shot down in the battle that have been mounted in to a glass fronted box frame with all information and pictures the frame is 10 inches long and 8 inches wide.

    The plane was shot down by Messerschmitt bf109 during its return to base at Kenley from Hawkinge. A.MacDonnell bailed out unhurt landing in Possingworth Park. On 25th July MacDonell claimed a Ju87 stuka destroyed, on the 29th July a Ju87 stuka and a Messerschmitt 109 destroyed and another Messerschmitt 109 damaged, on 5th August a Messerschmitt 109 destroyed and another probable, on the 8th August two probable Messerschmitt 109's, on the 11th August a Messerschmitt 109 destroyed and another damaged and on the 15th August Messerschmitt 109 one destroyed and another damaged. MacDonell destroyed a Messerschmitt 109, probably another, damaged a third, shared a Heinkel he 111 and damaged another on 16th August. On this day he was shot down by a Messerschmitt 109.MacDonell destroyed a Messerschmitt 110 and damaged a Ju88 bomber on 18th August and was awarded the DFC (gazetted 6th September 1940).On 11th November 1940 MacDonell damaged a Messerschmitt 109 and on the 29th November destroyed another, his final victory.On 13th March 1941 MacDonell was shot down by Werner Molders on a sweep over France in Spitfire P7555. He bailed out and was captured, being sent to Stalag Luft 3. Freed in April 1945, he received a Mention in Despatches (gazetted 28th December 1945) for distinguished services while a PoW. MacDonell was made a CB (gazetted 1st January 1964) and retired from the RAF on 15th November 1964 as an Air Commodore. His portrait was drawn by Cuthbert Orde in 1940.He died on 1st June 1999.
