    This is a very rare find from the battle of Britain it is a complete engine piston sleeve from a German Messerschmitt 109 DB 601 Daimler Benz engine. The piston sleeve is complete and in fantastic condition with all original colours it has no real damage from the impact of the crash but with a few dents and knocks.The piston sleeve has its original steel colour it has been very well cleaned and is a very nice example of a piston sleeve from this famous aircraft which is perfect for display or any collection and a rare one for the collection and large size at 10 inches long .The engine sleeve comes from German Messerschmitt bf109 fighter number 4842 which was engaged on a free-lance sortie over Canterbury in Kent and were intercepted by RAF spitfires on the 18th September 1940 during the Battle of Britain.The engine part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.

    The Messerschmitt caught fire whilst under attack by flying officer R.W.Oxspring of No66 squadron who shot the aircraft down. The abandoned aircraft crashed in flames and burned out at Guilton, Ash, near Sandwich at 5.05pm on the 18th September 1940.The pilot Leutnant.E.Bodendiek who had baled out safely but was captured seriously wounded.
