    This is a Rare German mess tin lid a unusual pattern not the standard 1915 but is pretty much the same size this one is named and numbered on the outside clear to see on the inside it has a embossed number on the inside as well this again clear to see. The tin in very nice condition with original green paintwork clear to see  and has a couple of small holes in the top possibly impact holes.This mess tin lid is in nice solid condition the aluminum made tin lid has no rust damage. This German mess tin lid which is not an easy find these days in this good a condition it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection.The mess tin lid was recovered years ago in the same area it was found which was on a brocante in the Village of Flers on the Somme battlefield of September 1916 this was first village captured using tanks on the Somme battlefield. A very nice and very relic from the famous Somme  battlefield.
