    This is a German Glasmine 43 bowl top which is complete with no damage. The bowl top still has its original colour it has been lightly cleaned since its recovery and hard to find in such nice condition that is complete  from the battlefield normally they have broken up it is perfect for display or any collection. The mine top was recovered from an old ammunition dump possibly used by the 10. SS-Panzer division Frundsberg as they defended this area near Albert on the old Somme battlefield of 1916-1918.The town was occupied by them in late August 1944 during the German retreat from Normandy across France back to Germany.And comes with 2X A5 laminated information cards.

    German ss troops were fighting the British and Canadian troops on the Western edge of Albert from around the 30th August 1944 but by the 2nd September 1944 the German defenders had retreated back towards Mons and some would end up captured in the Mons pocket which closed on the 5th September 1944.
