     This is a group of relics including bullet cases, broken crockery,pocket knife and maker marked fork there are 8 items in all. The parts are in fantastic condition for relic they still retain a lot of original colours and some have maker markings they are very solid condition not braking up or falling apart they have all been very well cleaned and are perfect for display or any collection and are 2-4 inches long and the broken parts properly destroyed and blown in to the fields when the airfield was bombed in 1940 . The group of relics that were all recovered in the 1970’s from the fields which surround Biggin Hill airfield. The relics were used on the airfield and lost during fighting on and over it in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940.The group comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures. 

    RAF Biggin Hill was the location of some of the fiercest fighting in the Battle of Britain in 1940. It was one of the principal fighter bases protecting London and the Southeast. On August 18 1940, the Luftwaffe launched a major attack on the airbase dropping 500 bombs in 10 minutes. Immediately after the attack, personnel at the base rushed to fill in the craters that pockmarked the runway and it was back in use the same day. It remained a prime target for enemy bombers and was attacked again twelve times between August 1940 and January 1941.
