    This is a nice and rare aluminium air frame structure section from a British aircraft damaged or destroyed during air raid on the airfield. The part which has ripped and bent by the impact of the explosion it also has some original green paintwork remains it is in relic but solid condition and has been nicely cleaned perfect for display and is 8 inches long and 3 inches wide.The airframe section was properly blown in to the fields from an aircraft that was hit on the ground when the airfield was bombed in 1940 and it was recovered in the 1970’s from the fields which surround Biggin Hill airfield. The airframe section from a RAF aircraft lost during the fighting in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940.The airframe section comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures. 

    RAF Biggin Hill was the location of some of the fiercest fighting in the Battle of Britain in 1940. It was one of the principal fighter bases protecting London and the Southeast. On August 18 1940, the Luftwaffe launched a major attack on the airbase dropping 500 bombs in 10 minutes. Immediately after the attack, personnel at the base rushed to fill in the craters that pockmarked the runway and it was back in use the same day. It remained a prime target for enemy bombers and was attacked again twelve times between August 1940 and January 1941.
