    This is a German 12cm mortar charge container complete  which carried teikartuschen or powder increments to give shells extra range. The tin which has some of its original green paintwork on the outside but a lot more inside of the tin very clear to see. The tin which is rusty but a lighter surface rust and with no rust holes on the lid all the markings can be seen. The lid comes of and on easy the tin is in nice solid condition it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. This mortar tin which is unusual to find from the battlefield in this nice condition was recovered in the area of the village of Marinovka which was defended by the 297th Infantry Division also in the pit was RAD [Reich Labour Service] items as well all used during the battle of 1942-1943 at Stalingrad in Russia. The tin comes with A5 laminated information card.
