German MG 34/42 basket drum ammunition basket near complete,lovely relic condition with some original colour used by soldiers of the 12th SS Panzer Division recovered in 2007 in the Ardennes Forest, village of Krinkelt, attacked by them during the Battle

This is German MG 34/42 basket drum ammunition basket near complete it is in nice relic condition it is rusty but with very few holes and damage.The basket is in rusty condition but still solid condition the top has rusted solid to the case so does not open the very rare bit it has some original paintwork and colour in a few places still smooth not rusty most of the basket is rusty but solid and in relic condition and has cleaned up very well it is perfect for display and a nice one for any collection in this condition . The basket was used by soldiers of the 12th SS Panzer Division recovered in 2007 in the Ardennes Forest near the village of Krinkelt which was attacked by them during the Battle and it comes with A5 laminated information card with picture.

During the night of December 17-18, tanks from the 12th SS (now extricated from the mud) broke through the U. S. line and pushed into Krinkelt, only to be expelled by a hasty counterattack. The 12th SS Panzer Division “Hitler Youth” lost 67 of its 136 tanks in the first three days of the battles for Krinkelt and Rocherath.  The fighting was fierce and, because the American soldiers had heard that the SS were shooting captives, few prisoners were taken by either side.
