    This is a very rare type of  crate to find a German Wehrmacht Smoke double Cylinder carry crate 'Langekerzer 42' ( Nb.KL 42] used as smoke screen for cover.The box has a paper label remains on the side which is not complete with no readable markings and a embossed maker stamp.The box is missing its lid unfortunately but is in fairly nice condition but is missing its hinges but has its lock and its metal carry handle. The box still retains its lovely brown colour it has some damage but is still solid not braking up or falling apart the box still has some very small amount of wood worm which has been treated it also looks like it has been used post war it has been cleaned to show the markings and is perfect for display or any collection and not a large crate either at 15 inches by 12 inches in size.The crate was found in Sedan used by German soldiers of the 1st Panzer Division as smoke screen when crossing the River Meuse the 13th May 1940 during battle of Sedan. during the German invasion of France.The crate comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.

    Langnebelkerze 42 (NbK L 42). Used for larger smoke-laying operations. Burning time from 22 to 25 minutes, 48 ​​cm high cylinder weighing 20 kg. Igniter was the Brennzünder 29 or 39, igniter charge was the "Zündladung Nebel 21". Same filler as the other Nebelkerzen. There was also a special edition of this designated NbK L 42 SZ. Weight 15.5 kg and burning time 15 minutes. This edition was filled with a mixture of Potassium Chlorate and Anthracite and produced a black smoke.
