    This is a very rare item recovered from the battlefield it is a Russian RPG 40 anti-tank hand grenade which empty and inert. This grenade is complete the handle does not unscrew it has been attached solid it did have some light rust all over with a couple of small rust holes but it has been overpainted in green paintwork to help protect it the grenade is very solid not braking up it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. The grenade was recovered from Margarethe line near lake Balston in Hungary, defended by the German 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar during battle.The grenade comes with A5 laminated information card.

    The ss Handschar division defended this area of the Margarethe Line ware the rifle was found this area which was a series of fixed defensive works south of Lake Balaton is ware the ss Handschar division held up the Soviet advance for as long as they could. After several Red Army assaults were repulsed, static trench warfare developed between December 1944 and January 1945.
