This is a World war 2 British SOE [special operations executive] Number 8 Mark I anti-personnel Switch these were used as a booby trap that pushed in to ground fired bullet in to victims foot. The switch which is in solid relic condition it still retains a bit of its original black paintwork and colour and complete with its internal part that comes out of the tube it has been very well cleaned the metal is pitted and rusty but overall nice condition for a relic it is perfect for display or any collection and a very nice condition find and a very rare find one of these which was used in an anti-personnel booby trap. The trap was buried in the ground and when trodden on fired the steel conical projectile through the victim's foot The case was based on the .351 inch Winchester Self-Loading case. The bullet was turned solid steel in a conical shape with a rounded point and blued the later type had a blunter radius to the point than the earlier type and this is the hardest trap to find. These were used by British special forces as well as provided to the resistance across Europe and used by SOE agents dropped into occupied Europe. The switch was recovered from the site of a special operations executive training ground in England. The trap comes with A5 laminated information sheet.
