    This is a original German grain sack or rations sack remains it is a ripped section of sack still retaining the ‘Eagle’ stamp which is clear to see it is in very solid condition not braking up or falling apart it does have a bit of damage from being buried but still retains a lot of original colour. This sack it has been mounted in to a perspex fronted frame with information and pictures which is a nice size at 20 inches long and 15 inches wide it is perfect for display or in a collection.The sack was recovered from a field near the village of Trun from a pit dug by the Allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket in Normandy the 1944 summer battlefield.


    The sacks were used by the German Army for rations and to transport goods such as loose cans of food, coffee beans or grain, even potatoes, and loaves of bread.
