This is a nice and rare find from the battlefield which is German model 13 rifle grenade which is a pre war design only used early war .This is the outer casing only which is empty and inert the metal case has no holes only some light surface rust and pitting it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. The grenade was recovered in 2016 from the remains of an old German trench line near the village of Mametz on the Somme battlefield in France this area saw very heavy fighting during the battle on the 1st July 1916. A very nice relic from The famous Somme battlefield.
