This is a German holding bracket base in the wicker 3 shell carry basket used by flak 88mm anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun. The carrier part which is rare to find as they are only thin metal and normally rotted away and it still has a fair bit of original paintwork very clear to see. The carrier part is missing one of its holding brackets and is rarer type of late war made being held together with wire it is rusty but solid and still with some silt and dirt attached from the lake bed but it has been very well cleaned but would clean up more with time and effort but it is in perfect condition for display or any collection. The carrier would have been used by the German Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion it was recovered with tiger 1 tank parts from a Lake East of Bastogne from battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.Due to the very low number of Tiger 1 tanks in the battle it is very easy to work out what units all the equipment came from recovered in this area. The holding bracket comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.
German Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion relics all found with Tiger 1 tank parts from a tank in the only Wehrmacht unit with Tiger 1 tanks in the whole battle and offensive 14 of them most were destroyed. They were in the 4th Company of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 also the 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division were there and of course the 311th Flak battalion were with them in this area during the battle and the encirclement of Bastogne over Christmas 1944.
