This is a battle damaged half a German 3.7cm flak shell carry case used by the 3.7cm flak 18/36/37 anti-aircraft gun which has bent out of shape from an explosion. The box does have a lot of its original dark green colour paintwork and red undercoat paintwork inside it has pretty much all paintwork on the inside of the box as well as the racking remains inside as well. The handle of the box is still there it does have some dirt and muck attached from the lake bed.The box half is in overall very nice condition but still very rare to find from the battlefield in such good condition with so much paintwork it has survived so well as it has been in a Lake bed in the silt which has help protect it is a very solid and a cracking condition relic. This ammunition box belonged to Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion it was recovered with tiger 1 tank parts from a Lake East of Bastogne from battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.Due to the very low number of Tiger 1 tanks in the battle it is very easy to work out what units all the equipment came from recovered in this area. The flak box comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.
German Luftwaffe 311th Flak battalion relics all found with Tiger 1 tank parts from a tank in the only Wehrmacht unit with Tiger 1 tanks in the whole battle and offensive 14 of them most were destroyed. They were in the 4th Company of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 also the 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division were there and of course the 311th Flak battalion were with them in this area during the battle and the encirclement of Bastogne over Christmas 1944.
