This is a large British Army wooden storage crate which is very hard to find a world war 1 British wooden crate that has survived this well. This box is also in nice condition still has most of its green paintwork on the lid is its original cloth cover the lid still opens closes and locks as well the lock moves freely it has some white stamped markings on the front and on one end it is dated 1915 it is missing its wooden handles the wood is still solid for over 100 years old with no real damage on the top or sides but some damage to the bottom it is 35 inches long and 13 inches wide. On the inside again pretty much damage free but does the remains of a paper label with some readable markings it has been well used the box is a very nice example and is perfect for display or a nice one for the collection and could even be used for re enacting .This crate comes from a private collection on the Somme a very nice relic from the famous Somme battlefield of 1916-1918.
