    This is a lovely condition fuel pipe section running from a fuel tank to the engine which has lots of clear maker markings and part numbers.The steel made section which has ripped of at one end and cut away at the other it has been very well cleaned and has a lot of original colour it is in nice solid condition it has ripped and bent only slightly by the impact of the crash it is perfect for display or any collection it is 23 inches long by 2 inches wide this is a very nice find relic from a Lancaster bomber. This fuel tank pipe was recovered from RAF Lancaster Mark I Number NG447 GI-U from number 622 Squadron the plane was shot down on the 9th April 1945 attacking kiel Harbour and sinking battleship Admiral Scheer and comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.

                 The Lancaster took off from RAF Mildenhall at 19.34pm part of a 300 bomber raid on Kiel Harbour the resulting operation caused severe damage to the yard and buildings and also hit by five tallboy bombs and capsized the battleship Admiral Scheer. The Lancaster was shot down at 22.40pm and crashed at Dorphof 6km SSE of Kappeln near Kiel. The crew F/L L.A.S Hodge, F/S S.G Taylor, F/S W.M.L Green RCAF, F/O G.W Gell RCAF, F/O A.S Seymour, SGT W.E Lewis, SGT W.A Parsons.A ll were killed apart from W.E Lewis was taken prisoner. All the crew that were killed are buried in Kiel war cemetery
